3D Biometrics System
4D worked with the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) to package and demonstrate a 3D fingerprint collection capability based on two-wavelength digital holography. 4D rapid prototyped a hand-held imaging device that transmits short wave infrared (SWIR) laser light to illuminate the finger. The imaging device also incorporates an LCD screen for aiming the illuminator and a SWIR detector that is used to capture the raw data used to generate a holographic image. 4D packaged the processing computer, electronics, and power supplies in a ruggedized, waterproof container. The system is able to collect 3D fingerprint images at a range of 18 inches.
