4D has licensed the Army Research Laboratory light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology for use on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), subsea vehicles, and construction and surveillance applications.  The 4D LiDAR system uses a micro-electromechanical (MEMs) mirror to scan a scene with laser light, thereby creating a precise 3D image.

The 4D LiDAR can be applied to a diverse set of applications – from battle damage assessment and mission planning to construction and environmental management.  The 4D LiDAR system is design to provide high resolution, precision mapping capabilities from a small UAV.  The system weighs 4.5 pounds, has an operational range of 400 feet and small size of 6“ high x 6”wide x 8” long.
